Together with the Channel piracema and Biological Refuge, the Ecomuseum is part of the Itaipu Tourist Complex. The Ecomuseum was inaugurated in 1987 and completely restructured in 2002. Shows the trajectory of the largest generator of electricity in the world, the Itaipu Binacional, and its impacts on nature since its construction until the present day. Represents the link between the environment and the works of man (Itaipu Binacional). This museum of Foz do Iguacu differs from others, because its main intention is not just be a showcase of the past, but a watchdog for the future. It has several antique pieces donated by the community iguaçuense, interactive features (totems and electronic models) and systems to show how the occupation was in the region, archaeological samples of prehistoric peoples, paleontology, environmental preservation projects, permanent and temporary exhibitions and a replica of a generating unit in operation.
